Prenatal Massage Calgary

Prenatal Massage – Safe, Supportive Care

Your body is doing incredible work, and that deserves comfort, care, and acknowledgment.

Pregnancy brings rapid change, both physically and emotionally. Whether you’re adjusting to a growing belly, shifting posture, disrupted sleep, or simply the weight of it all, prenatal massage offers a gentle way to feel more at home in your body.

At Wild Roots Massage Therapy in Calgary NW, every prenatal session is tailored to your needs and stage of pregnancy. With supportive bolstering, soothing techniques, and a calm environment, you’re free to rest, release tension, and reconnect with yourself during this transformational time.

What Is Prenatal Massage?

Prenatal massage is a specialized treatment designed to support the unique physical and emotional needs of pregnant clients. The session includes gentle, therapeutic techniques to ease discomfort and improve circulation, while also promoting deep relaxation for your nervous system.

Proper positioning is key. You’ll be safely supported with soft bolsters and cushions, usually side-lying for optimal comfort. This allows for effective treatment of the back, hips, shoulders, and legs while protecting your growing belly and lower back.

How It Helps

Pregnancy affects every system of the body, and massage can help you adapt with more ease. Prenatal massage may support:

  • Low back pain or sciatic nerve tension

  • Hip, glute, or pelvic discomfort

  • Swelling in the feet and lower legs

  • Neck and shoulder tension from posture changes

  • Sleep disturbances and emotional stress

  • Digestive discomfort from nervous system dysregulation

Massage also encourages better breathing, nervous system balance, and a deeper connection to your body during a time that can often feel unfamiliar or overwhelming.

What to Expect in a Session

Each session begins with a gentle check-in to learn how your body is feeling, what’s changed since your last treatment, and where you’d like support. Whether you’re in your first trimester or nearing your due date, your session is adapted to meet you where you are.

During your treatment:

  • You’ll be side-lying or semi-reclined, fully draped and supported with pregnancy-safe bolsters

  • I’ll use slow, soothing strokes and medium pressure (as appropriate) to reduce discomfort and swelling

  • Common areas treated include the low back, glutes, hips, shoulders, feet, and neck

  • Pressure, temperature, and position are adjusted as needed to prioritize your comfort and safety

This is a space where you can soften into stillness, free from expectations, pressure, or performance. You don’t need to explain or justify how you’re feeling. You’re simply cared for.

Is Prenatal Massage Safe?

Yes, when performed by a trained and experienced practitioner, prenatal massage is a safe and supportive way to address the physical challenges of pregnancy. At Wild Roots, I use pregnancy-specific techniques and positioning, and I’m always guided by your comfort and consent.

Massage is typically safe in all trimesters, but if you have a high-risk pregnancy or specific medical conditions, please consult your care provider first.

You Deserve Care While You’re Caring for Life

Your needs matter, too. Prenatal massage isn’t indulgent, it’s one of the most grounding, nourishing ways to support your changing body and prepare for birth with less tension and more resilience.

Whether you’re early in your journey or close to delivery, you’re welcome here, exactly as you are.

I tailor every session based on your trimester, health history, and how your body is feeling that day. If you’re unsure, check with your healthcare provider before your visit.

Prenatal massage is adapted to support your changing body. Sessions use side-lying positioning with bolsters for comfort, and techniques are modified to ease common pregnancy discomforts like back pain, hip tension, and swelling, while ensuring you and your baby stay safe and relaxed.
