Postnatal Massage Calgary

Postnatal Massage – Reconnect & Recover

Your body has been through an extraordinary experience. Now it’s time for you.

Postnatal massage is designed to support your recovery after birth- physically, emotionally, and energetically. Whether you’re weeks or months postpartum, your body is still healing, adjusting, and carrying the weight of new routines, interrupted sleep, and constant caregiving.

At Wild Roots Massage Therapy in Calgary NW, postnatal massage provides a calm, supportive space where you don’t have to be anything other than exactly how you are. This is a time to rest, receive, and reconnect with your body, without judgment or pressure.

What Is Postnatal Massage?

Postnatal massage is a therapeutic treatment tailored to the unique needs of your body after pregnancy and childbirth. It helps ease physical discomfort, support hormonal regulation, and promote emotional grounding during a time that can feel both beautiful and overwhelming.

Each session is customized to reflect how your body feels today, not how you think it “should” feel. Whether you’re navigating breastfeeding posture, lifting and carrying tension, or simply the emotional fatigue of being touched out and overstimulated, this massage meets you where you are.

How It Helps

Postnatal massage can support a wide range of postpartum challenges, including:

  • Upper back, shoulder, and neck tension from feeding, holding, or sleep deprivation

  • Low back and hip pain from postural changes or birth recovery

  • Pelvic discomfort or alignment issues

  • Swelling or poor circulation

  • Overwhelm, anxiety, and emotional dysregulation

  • Disconnection from your body or sense of self

Massage also encourages lymphatic movement, supports digestion, and creates space for your nervous system to reset, something that’s often overlooked in early parenthood.

What to Expect in a Session

Your session is designed to be as restorative and low-effort as possible. You won’t need to talk if you’re tired. You won’t be rushed. This is your time.

  • You’ll be fully draped and supported with bolsters and blankets

  • Side-lying, back-lying, or semi-reclined positioning can be used, depending on comfort and stage of healing

  • Areas commonly addressed include the upper back, hips, glutes, legs, jaw, neck, and arms

  • Gentle abdominal or diaphragm work can be offered if appropriate and welcomed

If you’re newly postpartum and unsure how to lie down comfortably, we’ll adapt as needed. If you’ve had a C-section, massage will always respect your scar healing timeline.

You Are Welcome Here- Exhausted, Tender, and Everything in Between

There is no “right” time to come in for postnatal massage. Whether you’re two weeks out or two years postpartum, this is for you. Because healing doesn’t have an expiration date—and neither does the need for support.

Come as you are: tired, overwhelmed, leaking, sore, or unsure. You’ve done enough. This is where you receive.

Frequently Asked Postnatal Massage Questions

Please reach us at info@angelahopermt.ca if you cannot find an answer to your question.

You can receive postnatal massage as soon as you feel ready, whether that’s days or weeks after birth. If you had a C-section, we’ll avoid the incision area until it’s fully healed. Every body and recovery is different, and we’ll adjust the session to meet you where you’re at.

Postnatal massage is tailored to address the physical and emotional shifts that happen after pregnancy. It focuses on areas commonly affected by birth and early parenting; low back, hips, neck, shoulders, and chest, and offers space to rest, reset, and reconnect with your body.

Yes, many new parents develop tightness in the upper back, shoulders, arms, and chest from feeding and holding their baby. We’ll focus on releasing those areas while supporting your nervous system, so you leave feeling both physically and emotionally lighter.
